With the weather changing and the cricket season starting, the skipper won the toss and backed the boys with willow. Kev and Pricey opened up in what was tough conditions but very easy bowling set us up for a good start. 52 runs later (including a Crawley Esque 4 of the first ball) was the first wicket bringing in the MOTM Hugh(ending on 64), who after pricey holing out to cow corner for 37 started a great 90 odd run partnership with the Nick. After Hugh got out there were a few contributions from Will and Liam but the stand out selfless 47 from the skipper lead ware’s first innings score to 224.
The defence from Ware was calm and considered with Liam and James opening up, a rusty start from everyone involved led to Hertford keeping up with the run rate early on but constant wickets throughout meant Ware were always in control. Great bowling from Kev, Adam, Henry and Dee with the latter providing great control led us to bowling out Hertford for 120. Shout out to the Hertford player “extras” for the half century picking up 51 runs.
First win registered but some improvements needed. 224 on that deck was great but 51 extras given to Hertford needs improvement.
