One's report - After a wet morning the weather cleared up nicely for the trip to Abbots Langley where we won the toss and fielded first. Ben and Liam opened up, followed by Kev, Phil and Nick but for a long time the only batsman out was one of the openers who pulled a hamstring and played no further part in the game. As Abbots Langley pushed on chances started coming and Dee bowled well at the death, taking 4 wickets with two catches each for Phil and Simon. Abbots Langley finished on 212 for 5 off their 40 overs with special mention to their 14 year old opener with his highest score in adult cricket, the first of many 50s if he carries on in the same way. In reply we lost Tom early and then Simon (16) and Phil (18) got starts but couldn’t push on. Kev and Kyle then batted really well together before Kev was out for 32. Kyle then completed an excellent maiden 50 for the firsts. As the run rate climbed we needed to take some chances and Kyle was run out for 60. The lower order continued to push on but we lost wickets regularly with two more run outs. Liam (15), Nick (13) and Ben (18 not out) got us close but we finished 199 all out in the last over, just 14 short. All in all this was a good performance against the side that are top of the league.
