Steve Risby7 Aug 2024 - 06:41

Ones lose unbeaten record but twos get vital win!

Ware 2s hosted local rivals St Mags at the glorious Widford ground. After losing the toss again Ware put into bat, opening. We opened with Si and Sam, their opening bowlers kept runs to a minimum Sam gets bowled in the 7th over with only 16 on the board. Dom joined Si and started getting the run rate up with the help from extras and reached drinks 90/1. Dom bowled soon after for 22 in comes Ben C and from the off he played aggressively talking quick singles keeping the field on their toes. Si was next to go with a brilliant 68 an unfortunate run out to be fair a very good piece of fielding got him. Joel next in got himself some runs and was looking comfortable before going for 11. Ben still on the attack was joined with Steve, cue the fireworks but it never materialised Steve’s attacking nature got him caught out early on then and Ben goes shortly after for 33. Ryan,Jamie, Dan and Ben K all got to bat adding some important runs finishing on 189/9 that was a very good batting performance facing some very difficult bowling. We go out to field opening the bowling was ever impressive Ryan he took two quick wickets putting them on 9/2 Ben at the over end was steady but failed to get in the wickets. The skipper tried to kick start their innings then Ben K broke the partnership with huge LBW appeal going his way finishing with 6/1/23 well done Ben. Next was a brilliant bit of fielding from Ryan in the deep gathering the ball and a direct hit which stunned thier skipper. Sam C bowled well again he was reverse swept for four which annoyed him but shortly afterwards he trapped him LBW trying the same shot which he did enjoy finishing with a good 8/2/26. As the wickets fell the run rate started to increase then Steve P came on to bowl and how he enjoyed taking three wickets finishing with a new impressive 7/3/20?? Joel was next up to bowl floating his spin taking a wicket along the way. We won by 57 runs a very good all round performance. Special mention to Jamie for a last minute call up to keep wicket and done a great job ??also a get well soon to young George who played through with a broken thumb and took a good catch, also loves a curry ?. Well done to all involved today. Great performance, my MOTM this weekend goes to Si P with a solid batting performance, keep up the fine form Si ??We sit 2nd in the league and next week we are away to table toppers Bengeo please get your availability in for I’m sure will be a cracker.??

Week 13.
Ware v St Margaretsbury.
Always nice to have a local journey but Ware kept the fines master very happy with an off display. Oppo batted first and scored 296 with Liam standing head and shoulders over the other bowlers with an excellent spells of 2/33. In reply Adam (38) and Tom (28) got us off to an excellent start but we lost regular wickets despite the best efforts of Nick and Kev we didn't quite make it to 200. Debut runs for the club for Harry, thanks very much to him and Dave G for playing last minute. Highlight was meeting former club stalwart John Murphy, former captain and excellent batsman!
