Dominic thankfully lost the toss, which meant we got to bat first. Sam C and Si opened up and at drinks their partnership was past the 100 mark with Si passing 50, and Then departed shortly after at which point Dom joined Sam! Sam Completed his Maiden 50 for the club just before Dom joined him at the crease with that monkey off his back Sam cut lose and scored his next 50 in double quick time for his maiden century for the club very well batted and expect it to be the first of many! The 50 partnership came up quickly and Dom contributed 6 of 52…Sam them was finally out on 105, Phil and Dom then took up setting a target and got it to 243 for 3.
Ben C then opened the bowling and frustrated at not getting a bat!struck first ball with a peach of a ball that their opener left and it seamed and clipped the top of off. Ben then picked up a 2nd followed by a run out! Phil bowled really well but ended up wicketless 8overs for 9 runs. Ben K replaced Ben C and Oscar replaced Phil, Oscar Struck clean bowling one of their bats. Sam C and Gunwin joined the attack and both bowled well and picked up 2 wickets each before Robert Dupplaw got the chance for his first league Bowl for the club and cleaned up the last 2 with a great catch from Ben K and a clean bowled. Very well played everyone a great team effort and of course a special mention for MOM Sam C with his maiden 50 and 100 for the club, we think 2nd 50 was off about 20 balls!
The 1s enjoyed the hospitality of Hatfield over at the beautiful Newgate ground. Asked to field, Pricey and Dee opened with well controlled pace and Hatfield were unable to get going, Dee picking up his usual 3 but Price unlucky to only get the one. Ryan and then Alex both making their 1s debuts, took over from Pricey and both took two wickets. Skipper Kev mopped things up at the other end and Hatfield finished on 83.
Price and Will P took us to 44 off 4 with some power hitting and 2 sixes each. One from Will clearing boundary, the fence, the car park and into the road, only being stopped by Dee’s car. Dee’s best fielding of the Season. After the fireworks Kyle and Tom calmly brought us home.
A really good all round performance but Mom goes to Ryan who should have had three wickets on debut but for an erroneous no ball call.
Someone then had the happy idea of watching Little Berko 2s against Datchworths 3s where Berko’s opener refused to walk after clearly edging behind. No-one finishing with much dignity after a very long discussion but much hilarity from us on the boundary.
