The hottest match

On the hottest day of the year so far, Ware and Bengeo battled the temperature and each other in a very friendly game where every player batted and bowled. Standout batting performances by guest player Andy Thrussell 38 (Normally Bengeo's captain) and Steve Risby 35, helped Ware make a good target of 198 for Bengeo to chase. Bengeo's batsmen did well, Jack Smith 30, Dom Bannon 29, and Fin Mitham with a great unbeaten 58. But good bowling and fielding by Ware at the end was just enough to seal the win by 19 runs.

Well played everyone. We all look forward to the rematch at Widford in a few weeks time, where Bengeo will want to reverse the result. Hopefully it won't be quite so hot.
