Rosanari

On a lovely warm day at the glorious Widford, Ware Sunday team managed to create a 100% win rate for 2015. OK it was the first Sunday game played but still.
The usual non toss took place and Rosanari started proceedings by agreeing to bat first. It must be said at this point that Ware were lent the playing skills of Mike Freeman from Rosanari which is much appreciated.
Opening the bowling for Ware were Seb Brownhill and debutant Okoye. Both bowled well and tight without much luck conceding less that 10 runs each in the obligatory 4 over spells. Next up were guest Westonholte (from Blakesware) and the returning Dom Compton (after 20 years away). Westonholte grabbed the first wicket bowling the aggressive opener and Dom surprised himself with his accuracy even attempting a quicker ones as the spell went on. Next to bowl were Brookes and Dev junior. Svens radar was a little off first over but somehow amongst a few wides and no balls he managed to hit the stumps. Fred quickly worked out the strategy of Mr underwood at the other end and the straight one picked up another wicket. Sven then proceeded to upset Mr Bell by bowling a beamer on his elbow and he took his frustration out on freds next over. Sven again managed a straight one in his last over and Fred also picked up another bowled. We then had them 5 wickets down.
Young Ben Compton then came on for his first bowl in senior cricket and after a nervous start soon settled down and was hard top score runs off. With freeman at the other end picking up a wicket (caught Dom Compton) ben completed his spell when Fred took a catch off his last over. A good start from the young man. The experience of Cave and Dev senior then came on for the last few overs with Dev picking up the last 3 wickets including Alex Washbournes first catch as wicket keeper, with Cave being unlucky (again).

After tea Freeman and Washbourne opened up with freemen being aggressive from the go and Washbourne after being dropped first ball playing a sensible supporting innings. With Freemans demise Sven came in and with his usual cavalier approach stated hitting the ball to all corners, washbourne happy to support and a quick 50 partnership took Place. After Alex missed one that moved in Sven retried on 53 and 2 new batsmen in Seb (31 retired) and Cave (24 retried) came in. They soon got going scoring runs freely with the total being chased down in very quick fashion. Both these batsmen retired with Westonholte and Dev juior coming in. They looked comfortable with Fred only a couple of foot off of his first 6 being 8 not out at the end and Westonholte 12 not out.

A really enjoyable game played in lovely weather and a great spirit. Thanks to all who played especially the guests and the debutants.
