All Round Fantastic Performance gives the 2nd Team their First win

What can I say - so far this season there has been a number of good individual performances - but this Saturday was the first time - that the whole team ( ok nearly a team 10 players ) - all made a contribution - with the ball - with the Bat and in the field - with the weather hotting up - we were getting a little hot under the collar as the clock struck 1pm and we entered the field with 8 players - But just in the nick of time and before we bowled a ball - Tom and Rob who had a school match in the morning arrived - then there was 10 - So early on the St Mags opening batsman had the better of the game - but as the bowling tighten up and the Captain and senior players got the fielders in the right places - the runs slowed to much more resonable rate - As the game progressed - all bowlers contributed as wickets fell at regular intervals - A perfect spread Kev Meakin with 2-35 Pete Dev with 2-27 Jon Perrett 2-35 and young Alex Willis 2-16 and two run-outs one a quick direct hit from Kev and the final wicket was Fred devonshire showing off his powerful arm with a throw in from the boundry right over the stumps for the perfect run out

So half way St Margretsbury had got up to 175- all out in 45.1 Ware Went to Tea very happy ten wickets taken 10 points in The Bag

so a chase 176 in 44 overs at 4 a over - a very gettable rate but Ware would have to bat better than they had so far this season to get their highest total - so Kev Meakin and Skip Nick Cave opened up and looked to keep wickets intact but score when possible - ware lost the first wicket for 43 with Cave out LBW for 22 - in came Alex Washbourne who earlier had taken two good caches behind the stumps supported Kev for another handy partnership 27 - score 70 for 2 - in Came Jon Perret at drinks
we were spot on the rate 88 for 2 of 22 overs - but after drinks Jon and Kev accelerated the scoring rate until Jon was Bowled on 31 131 for 3 - Just !! 45 needed - we then lost a couple of quick wickets - which now got St Mags very interested and hoping to pick up the four remaining wickets - knowing If they could get the wicket of Kev then anything could happen Fred Devonshire came in played well - playing some good shots until he had trouble with a bouncer and fell to a catch 6 down so 30 of 12 overs 3 wickets in hand Pete Devonshire came in with the job of seeing us home - A couple of good overs got us to just 20 of 10 overs required - but a frustrated kev Meakin with the very defensive field holed out on 79 a great effort leaving just 10 of 6 overs with 2 wickets in hand - expecting Pete to use his experience to see us home - he found himself off strike at the end of the over - so with one of there best bowlers charging in - Tom Lester At the strikers end patted back the first ball - second ball played a great straight drive for 4 just five required - to everyone's joy - Tom Repeated the shot again straight back over the bowler 4 more - so scores tied - just one need - just push the single - Oh No Tom moved forward and hit his third straight 4 to win the game - what a end to a fantastic game - what a effort -
